To Her
Yes.. I must remember that behind those eyes
reside not the ocean..
It is only cavity and nerve.
That these lips that I kiss are not the foreign lands
the tounge speaks of.
When you speak I must remind myself that nobody is singing.
Why is it that I hear songs when you speak?
I must remember that there is no magic to speak of...
When I lie watching the arches and curves of your sleeping form,
It is not the valley and mountains
catching the light of the forest moon.
I must remember that we all get older by the second
and have bills to pay.
But these nights become seized with forgetting..
with lost moments
within lost spaces.
and....
what was it that I was just saying?
My mouth is silenced by our breathing.
It is not the sighs of past lovers in our breath ...
You are no creature of light
an angel
a goddess
a devil
a sprite
a muse
a nymph
nor empress
I must remember we are only human...
That this is all the time in the world we have...
I must remember..
remember what it is I was trying to say..
oh..
I will love you anyways.
